Gov. Deval Patrick says he will consider allowing slot machines as part of expanded gambling in Massachusetts if the Legislature begins approving other stalled bills.

The state’s appeal filed Thursday asks that U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton’s preliminary injunction be lifted so that all of the law can take effect.

Attorney General Martha Coakley says she will not bring criminal charges against an aid to Mayor Tom Menino accused of deleting e-mails in a way that violated state public records law.

State Treasurer Tim Cahill, who oversees the board, says they want a higher court to clarify when it’s appropriate to withhold state pensions of current or former state employees charged with crimes.
